My name is Dalila Thomas. I’m a St. Louis native living in Dallas and I’m obsessed with food. So much so, I’ve decided to make a living out of it. Starving on a Budget started as a blog, but over time I realized it could be so much more. From PR, to events, to consulting, my work is centered around food and how it brings people together for the better. In addition to my business, I’m a freelance writer for the Dallas Observer.
I always loved to write, so I’d just write about the things I enjoyed. Over time, I realized not only do I love eating food, a lot of other people love it too. Everyone has a personal relationship with food, essentially meaning everyone has a unique story to tell. I wanted to provide a platform for these people.
Right now my main focus for Starving on a Budget is PR and events, so I’m not writing for the site much. I’ve created a platform through the Dallas Observer, highlighting black-owned restaurants/chefs because I knew it was important to have as many eyes as possible on the message I was and am trying to convey. Eventually I’d love to bring those readers over to the site, but I’m so in love with creating culinary experiences right now it may be a little time before I get to that. But it’s coming.
